Palle Hagman (1916-1972) was a Danish actor ans a varieté artist who spent all his life waiting for his big opportunity: Success, money and fame. He never got it - but he never gave up trying. His ambition took him from Denmark to Sweden, Finalnd, France, Sahara - and back to Finland again. He left behind five stranded mariages, eleven foraken children (three of whom are in Finland), countless bakruptcies and he unpaid hotel and restaurant bills of his lifetime. But maybe he also left us an evidence of the fact that nothing is impossible if one just possesses the gift of speech. Palle Hagman was a charming and talented swindler who could talk himself out of seemingly impossible situations. His life includes farce and tragedy, with deep questions on the existence. The post-war society which Palle Hagman lived in resembles the one we presently live in. Especially the crucial question in Hagmanøs life “How to get on without money?”
