See You Tomorrow, Mário
I morgon Mário
It is still dark when Mário wakes up. He is eight years old and supports himself and his two little sisters, now that his father has died and his mother is in hospital waiting to undergo surgery. When he grows up, he wants to become a whale hunter. Mário dreams about whales. They are big. So are the tourists who arrive in Madeira every day. Big, white, old, defenseless. Mário and his friends divide the town and the tourists among themselves. They are a gang - and everything is of use to them: selling flowers, stealing, begging, rending an enormous variety of services to the Sirs, diving in the harbour for coins thrown by tourists. Mário is the youngest - but this lifestyle makes him feel like a grown-up man.
