Eight-year-old Clara is going to her best friend Catherine's birthday party. Catherine hopes she'll get a pet, but her mother has bought her a hairgrip. Clara decides to get Catherine a pet, somehow. Clara meets Matthew, who is also going to the party. They've got to figure out how to find a pet for Catherine.
