Shepherd
Paimen
A remarkable and unconventional Belgian shepherd called Ludo Van Alphen wanders with his flock of sheep - the largest in Belgium - through the industrial badlands of the port of Antwerp. Ludo was an educator at an institution for the mentally disabled before deciding to change his life. He is a torchbearer for the ancient tradition of nomadism; he tends his herd in the middle of the port, a labyrinth of factories and roads. But we can see that the situation cannot last — and so can Ludo. The film looks at both ancient and modern ways of life, also showing the road society is on. Where is it leading? What do the signposts say?
