Blending scenes of animals trapped in the Yugoslav capital’s zoo and ordinary people in the city streets, the film powerfully explores the theme of captivity in Europe's last dictatorship. A unique document of a crucial period in western history, the film was shot on location only months before the velvet revolution that toppled the regime of Slobodan Milosevic in October 2000.
