Nova is a well-behaved only child and a talented pianist. But she has lost interest. When her mother drives to collect her from a piano lesson, Nova tells her. The shocked mother makes Nova walk home. With each step, hatred grows. At home, her mother refuses to let her quit piano lessons. Taking control of her fate, Nova chops off three of her fingers.
