In 1984, Swedish mining company Boliden exported hazardous waste to the Chilean desert town of Arica, where it’s supposed to be properly processed. Instead it caused an environmental disaster for the local community. In 2009 a first film, Toxic Playground, revealed the scandal. The current film follows a groundbreaking corporate accountability trial initiated against Boliden in 2018. In the end, what is more important – human health or corporate profit?
