Against the Current
Á móti straumnum
Veiga is the first person to paddle 2,000 kilometres around Iceland against the sea current, on the edge of the Arctic Circle. This is comparable with climbing K2, the world’s second highest mountain. Her personal journey is no less remarkable - she was born a boy in a remote fishing village in the western fjords of Iceland. She was once a man with a wife and two children. The struggle of transformation twice led her to attempt suicide.
