Winter Journey

Martin Goldsmith never really knew what happened to his parents Georg and Rosemarie before they escaped from their native Germany in 1941. He grew up in a house full of secrets and a past that could never be mentioned. Over a long weekend, he confronts his ageing, widowed father and we are brought back to the complex and confusing 1930s when Martin’s parents were young musicians in a bizarre organisation named Jüdischer Kulturbund. Bruno Ganz plays the main character in what turned out to be his last film.
