Sixteen-year-old Linn is finally allowed to join the adults for an elk hunt. She needs to prove herself, but when she shoots her first trophy, pride turns to shame when it turns out that she has killed a mother elk. Hunters are not allowed to kill females before shooting their calf. The calf has to be found and shot so it won’t die, deprived of its mother’s care. Ashamed but determined, Linn searches for the calf. A walk in the wilderness becomes her true test.
