Steina and Woody Vasulka are pioneers of video art, and have been dubbed “the grandparents of video art”. We find them in Santa Fe as they grapple with archiving their huge body of work for future generations. Forgotten by the art world, they are struggling with finances. Through their journey, we begin to understand video’s major impact on art and society from the 1960s onwards – a period in which media art has contributed to the decentralisation of art and corporate media.
