Russian journalist and former Russian naval officer Grigory Pasko worked as a investigative reporter and editor for the Russian Pacific Fleet’s in-house newspaper. But after disclosing the dumping of nuclear waste by the Russian Navy in the Sea of Japan in 1993, he was arrested by the FSB and accused of espionage for his articles about environmental issues. Pasko is recognised as a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International.
