A Year of Hope

A group of boys from the streets of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, get a chance to change their lives. They are offered a one-year stay at a rehabilitation centre on an island far from the city. In the context of their past lives, this is paradise. Many of the boys have been sexually abused, drug-addicted or physically abused at home. Tracy, 13, wants more than anything to be a lady boy, and Joshua, 15, has forgotten how to smile.
