Taikon
Taikon
As a young Roma girl, Katarina Taikon was denied an education. She learned to read in her late twenties and became a best-selling author of children’s books in Sweden. Her story is also an account of the emergence of the modern welfare society – and the one group left out: the Roma minority. This documentary, directed by acclaimed author and journalist Gellert Tamas and author and journalist Lawen Mohtadi paints a vivid portrait of one of the major advocates of human rights in 20th century Europe. Katarina Taikon has been compared to Martin Luther King.
