August 23 1972, teacher Inga-Britt Jones welcomes some eager children to their first day of school at Jordbro, a newly constructed Stockholm suburb. Jordbro was built in the thriving sixties for a mixed group of people, young families without a place to live, people from the northernmost parts of Sweden who had got jobs in the capital and immigrants from Finland, Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey. What was it like to grow up in this community of pioneers, in “new” Sweden?
